We are happy to share some insights about Aria Systems drawn from our latest Value Index research, Ventana Research Value Index: Subscription Management, which assesses how well vendors’ offerings meet buyers’ requirements.
In all of our Value Indexes we utilize a structured research methodology that includes evaluation categories designed to reflect real-world criteria incorporated in a request for proposal (RFP) and vendor selection process for subscription management. We evaluated Aria Systems and 20 other vendors in seven categories, five relevant to the product (adaptability, capability, manageability, reliability and usability) and two related to the vendor (TCO/ROI and vendor validation). To arrive at the Value Index rating for a given vendor, we weighted each category to reflect its relative importance in an RFP process, with the weightings based on our experience and on data derived from our benchmark research on subscription management.
Aria was categorized as an Innovative Vendor, ranking 10th overall in this Value Index evaluation. It ranked ninth in Product Experience where it performed best in Capability, placing fifth, and 10th in Adaptability. It ranked 19th in Customer Experience, placing 17th and 20th in TCO/ROI and Validation, respectively. Its overall performance was impacted by its lower rankings in the Customer Experience categories, which represent 20% of the weighting in the overall Value Index.
When compared to all vendors in this Value Index, our assessment finds that Aria could improve its performance in Adaptability, where it ranked 10th, by better supporting connectivity and automated integration. To improve its performance in TCO/ROI, where it also ranked 10th, Aria could examine its economic benefit information availability as software features are no longer the sole evaluation criteria for assessing and selecting vendors.
Aria could perform better overall in this evaluation by addressing its Validation performance of 52.1% with increased visibility of its product roadmap and the availability of its references and case studies. Aria’s strongest performance came in Capability with a 73.2%, where it did well in pricing and rating, payment acceptance systems and managing billing lines.
This assessment was based on Aria Billing Cloud version 48 and was available in February of 2023.
Aria Systems, like all vendors in this market, should ensure they are tracking the needs and expectations of consumers including business customers, as more organizations outside of the traditional digitally native industries continue to evolve their use of mixed revenue models including subscriptions.
