We are happy to share some insights about BMC drawn from our latest market research, Ventana Research Buyers Guide: DataOps, which assesses how well vendors’ offerings meet buyers’ requirements.
We recently published four Ventana Research 2023 DataOps Buyers Guides, an assessment of technology vendors and products that provide individual and combined DataOps, data observability, data orchestration and data pipeline platform support.
At Ventana Research, we continue to believe that, for most use-cases, there is a clear choice for DataOps platforms for any use in your organization. We developed four technology assessments and buyers guides to focus on overall DataOps requirements as well as specific data observability, data orchestration and data pipeline platform use-cases.
In all of our Buyers Guides, we utilize a structured research methodology called the Value Index that includes evaluation categories designed to reflect real-world criteria incorporated in a request for proposal (RFP) and vendor selection process for DataOps. We evaluated BMC and 17 other vendors in seven categories, five relevant to the product (adaptability, capability, manageability, reliability and usability) and two related to the vendor (TCO/ROI and vendor validation).
In the overall DataOps Buyers Guide, our analysis classified BMC as Exemplary, receiving an overall grade of B- with a 59.6% performance. BMC’s best grouped results came in Customer Experience with a 82.1% performance and A- grade due in part to its A- in Validation. In Product Experience, BMC received C++ with a 55.7% performance due to its 51.3% performance in Reliability. BMC received a B+ in Adaptability and a B- in Usability. BMC partially participated in the RFI process.
BMC’s C++ grade in Product Experience was impacted by its C++ in Reliability where it could improve its performance and scalability. Customer Experience was impacted by its B++ grade in TCO/ROI where it could improve information about its tooling.
BMC performed best in Customer Experience with an A- grade, notably in Validation where its A- was due to its service, support, customer commitment, and sales and onboarding. In Product Experience, it did well in Adaptability with a B+ grade due to its configuration and API capabilities.
In the Data Orchestration Buyers Guide, our analysis classified BMC as Exemplary, receiving an overall grade of B+ with a 72.6% performance. BMC’s best grouped results came in Customer Experience at 82.1% performance and an A- grade due in part to its A- in Validation. In Product Experience, BMC received a B+ grade with a 70.1% performance due to its 79.6% performance in Capability, where BMC was designated a Leader. BMC partially participated in the RFI process.
BMC’s B+ grade in Product Experience was impacted by its C++ in Reliability where it could provide more information related to performance and scalability. Customer Experience was impacted by its B++ grade in TCO/ROI where it could improve tools to help customers calculate costs.
BMC performed best in Customer Experience with an A- grade, notably in Validation where it received an A- due to its services and articulation of customer commitment. In Adaptability, configuration and APIs are strengths. BMC’s focus on workflow orchestration contributed to its B++ grade in Capability.
In the Data Pipelines Buyers Guide, our analysis classified BMC as a vendor of Assurance, receiving an overall grade of B with a 67.2% performance. BMC’s best grouped results came in Customer Experience at 82.1% performance and A grade due in part to its A- in Validation. In Product Experience, BMC received a B grade with a 63.2% performance due to its 73.5% performance in Adaptability. BMC received a B++ in TCO/ROI and a B in Capability. BMC partially participated in the RFI process.
BMC’s B grade in Product Experience was impacted by its C++ in Reliability where it could provide more information in relation to performance, scalability and continuity. Customer Experience was impacted by its B++ grade in TCO/ROI where it could provide more information about tooling to calculate costs and value.
BMC performed best in Customer Experience with an A- grade, notably in Validation where it received an A- due to its services and demonstration of customer commitment. In Adaptability, APIs and configuration are strengths and led to a grade of B+. BMC’s pipeline development functionality led to its B grade in Capability.
