We are happy to share some insights about CornerStone OnDemand drawn from our latest Value Index research, Ventana Research Value Index: Learning Management, which assesses how well vendors’ offerings meet buyers’ requirements.
In all of our Value Indexes we utilize a structured research methodology that includes evaluation categories designed to reflect real-world criteria incorporated in a request for proposal (RFP) and vendor selection process for analytics and business intelligence. We evaluated Cornerstone OnDemand and 13 other vendors in seven categories, five relevant to the product (Adaptability, Capability, Manageability, Reliability and Usability) and two related to the vendor (TCO/ROI and vendor Validation). To arrive at the Value Index rating for a given vendor, we weighted each category to reflect its relative importance in an RFP process, with the weightings based on our experience and on data derived from our benchmark research on learning management.
Cornerstone OnDemand’s learning management system is designed to unify content, data, and learning and personalize the needs of each worker and organization.
Cornerstone OnDemand was categorized as an Exemplary Vendor, ranking first overall in this Value Index evaluation. It ranked first in Product Experience, where it was designated a Value Index Leader in Reliability and TCO/ROI, and ranked best in Usability, Manageability, Adaptability, Capability and Validation. It ranked second in Customer Experience and was a Value Index Leader in Validation. Its overall performance was slightly impacted by its lower rankings in Validation and TCO/ROI, which represent 20% of the weighting in the overall Value Index.
Cornerstone OnDemand performed quite well overall, finishing first in every category except TCO/ROI. Improved communication in its ability to support its customers in demonstrating the overall success of investment in their offering would improve the TCO/ROI second-place ranking.
This assessment was based on Cornerstone OnDemand’s Cornerstone LMS products available in September of 2022.
Cornerstone OnDemand, like all vendors in this market, should ensure it meets the evolving needs and expectations of its buyers and customers for enterprise-wide learning and provide it where and when workers need it as part of their work.
