We are happy to share some insights about Workday drawn from our latest Value Index research, Ventana Research Value Index: Learning Management, which assesses how well vendors’ offerings meet buyers’ requirements.
In all of our Value Indexes we utilize a structured research methodology that includes evaluation categories designed to reflect real-world criteria incorporated in a request for proposal (RFP) and vendor selection process for analytics and business intelligence. We evaluated Workday and 13 other vendors in seven categories, five relevant to the product (Adaptability, Capability, Manageability, Reliability and Usability) and two related to the vendor (TCO/ROI and vendor Validation). To arrive at the Value Index rating for a given vendor, we weighted each category to reflect its relative importance in an RFP process, with the weightings based on our experience and on data derived from our Learning Management Benchmark Research.
Workday provides a learning management system that includes actionable insights, learning campaigns and personalized content to help workers train. Workday was categorized as a Vendor of Merit, ranking 10th overall in this Value Index evaluation. It was designated a Value Index Leader in Validation and ranked best in Reliability. It was ranked 10th in Customer Experience. Its overall performance was impacted by its lower rankings in TCO/ROI and Usability, which represent 25% of the weighting in the overall Value Index.
Our assessment finds that Workday could perform better by examining its placement as 10th in the TCO/ROI category and the tools it provides customers to make a business case for the product. In the Capability category, where it ranked 11th, it could examine its investment in building product capabilities like social collaboration.
This assessment was based on Workday’s Workday Learning R2 products available in August of 2022.
Workday, like all vendors in this market, should ensure they meet the evolving needs and expectations of its buyers and customers for enterprise-wide learning and provide it where and when workers need it as part of their work.
