SAN RAMON, September 13, 2012 – Ventana Research has released its latest Benchmark Research on Next-Generation Workforce Management.Ventana Research undertook this benchmark to gain insight into how organizations are responding to the need for change in workforce management practices across managers and workers.

The traditional approach to workforce management is outdated. It is no longer limited to the monitoring time and labor scheduling, therefore the majority of legacy application software within current workforce management techniques has created a work environment that hinders the best productivity. In today’s fast-paced and competitive environment, organizations need to not only delegate tasks to the right people but interact and improve to reach the best possible outcome with the highest level of productivity. As a result, workforce management software has grown in importance as the method to control labor costs, minimize risk, adhere to compliance and improve workforce productivity. To accomplish these items, companies need to adopt a more efficient way to help managers and workers interact and meet their goals and objectives.

The new research found that 49% of participants found alack of confidence in how they are managing their workforces. The research shows that companies believe workforce productivity is a critical issue for organizations, as three-fourths of participants agreed that improving their current methods was very important. In addition, half of the participants said that improving workforce efficiency is going to be one of their top three priorities in the next year.

“Workforce Management has become an essential backbone to business operations in the last decade. Expanding beyond time and attendance and labor scheduling is critical to best engage and retain workers for providing the best possible results and productivity.” said Mark Smith, CEO & Chief Research Officer of Ventana Research.  “Unfortunately a lack of research and best practices in the industry has hindered many organizations to look beyond existing approaches to new methods. Our benchmark research has created a foundation of best practices and education to help understand how and why managers and workers can use new technology like collaboration, mobile and analytics to best manage and improve the value of the workforce.”

Ventana Research embarked on this benchmark to acquire real-world information about how organizations are responding to the need for change in workforce management. It investigates how companies manage critical activities in monitoring workforce’s productivity and what systems they use to collect and analyze information. It also explored the barriers encountered in efforts to achieve goals in workforce management.

Ventana Research will expand on the key findings of this benchmark research during alive webinar on Friday, October 5th at 9 am PST. To participate in the webinar, or view it after it has taken place, visit: http://www.ventanaresearch.com/NGWMwebinar.
