Ventana Research Finds Disturbing Total Compensation Management Situation

Written by ISG Software Research | Apr 24, 2008

PLEASANTON, Calif.— April 24, 2008 —Ventana Research’s new benchmark research, “Total Compensation Management: The Cornerstone of Talent and Workforce Performance Management” finds an unfortunate reality of today’s environment for compensation management and new plans are not balanced. The research found organizations are making advancements from a people and process dimension but are still challenged in having integrated information and use of technology is still evolutionary. Ventana Research believes total compensation management is a required foundation to advance the basics of talent management and to fully optimize the investment in a workforce.

“The use of total compensation management has been a long standing challenge to HR professionals to provide an integrated set of processes and information that can be used for communications and decision-making.”, said Mark Smith, Ventana Research CEO & Executive Vice President of Research. “The research found a lack of priority on unifying processes and information for ensuring the alignment of compensation to workforce goals and objectives.”

Ventana Research will expand on the key findings of this benchmark research, including what to do for improving your total compensation management maturity on a live interactive webinar, “Adopting Total Compensation Management and Foundation for Workforce Performance,” on Tuesday, May 6th at 10:00am Pacific time.

The webinar will present the research findings and help you to understand how innovative organizations have advanced their use of total compensation management through examination of people, processes, information and technology. It will also provide some valuable insight to the barriers and impediments facing organizations and what can be done to improve and apply best practices. Here are some key points that will be explored in the research:

• What distinguishes organizations from being innovative or tactical in focus.

• Over half of organizations are addressing information issues that plague communication and planning.

• Why the dedicated and supporting use of spreadsheets in 73% of companies are a problem as 48% do not audit them for errors.

• How to address the high level of importance for integration of data and systems in 40% of organizations.

• Where does finance and operations play a strategic role for sponsoring, improving processes or gaining access to information.
